It was about 50 degrees here in NY today, the rain stopped around 1pm or so and i decided to get the feel of my machine
again after a long 2 month rest. The ground was soft and the weather was warm and the old hunted out ballfield was still producing old nickels. Dug plenty of Vs and buffalos at this site, but never a shield nickel. This is my first :hello2: shield.
also managed a wheat and a half token of some kind. As you can see its pretty worn, shadows of a date show, but nothing definite.
Enjoy

Nice sheild nickle.

They are hard to come by. They almost never hold up either. I saw my brother dig 2 one day and they were in great shape. All the one's I have found are worn and toasted.

Congrats on your first shield nickel, great start to 2010

I hope to locate a shield nickle this season. Nice digs. jgas

Looks like shield nickels are on a lot of folks' lists. Mine too!

Congrats on crossing it off of yours!!!

Took quite a while to find my first. Think I have two now. Took 5 years to dig a buffalo and two more followed right after so maybe the first is the hard one.
