The snow is almost melted and with daytime temps in the thirties Gates and I had a good Saturday afternoon hunting a wooded area that has always been productive in years past. We worked our way through the woods along the river and I got about 100 yards ahead of Gates. By then I had found 4 wheaties but nothing impressive. I was pounding an old area with few results. Gates came and told me I should have stayed back a ways and he was so right. He showed me some impressive finds and he headed back to the hot spot with me following. I found another 8 wheaties , some Misc. and this 1867 shield nickel. It was a good time with more to come.
