I was at an area today at one of my favorite spots. I was at a foundation in the woods. I have searched and searched for an IH that is not toasted beyond belief. I got a shady hit today, removed a few inches of soil and the signal increased and so did the VDI on my Deus. After about 10 minutes of fighting through roots and forest debris, this tiny lil gem came to light. I was blown away that I could read the date and the shape it is in. I found one earlier today to that was so toasted there was no reading the date. I love this hobby!!

That's a beauty!

Sweet find. Same thing happened to me the other week. I pulled an amazing 1873 Indian and u could still read the liberty. The others that I found, toasted.

Really nice IH, congrats!!

Great find Beeps! Thanks for sharing...

Thats a nice one, should clean up nice...

Dig enough you've got to get lucky once in awhile. Nice one.

For some reason, the Indian cents from about 1864 (bronze) to 1873 often don't corrode in the ground. I have dug up 1864 bronze, 1867, 1869, and 1873 Indians in high grade (XF/AU) with essentially no corrosion. But dig a 1900 in the same location, and it's a lumpy green blob. The alloy must have been slightly different in those years.

I love finding Indians. Congrats

WTG on the sweet looking IH!

Man, that Indian Head is beautiful... nice find and congrats.

Now that you mention it I have dug a few indian heads in that date range and they all came out of the ground looking good. One was found in a farm field and it still looked good. (sometimes the fertilizer kills them) That 1865 sure is a nice one. Congrats Beeps in my Sleep.

Oh, a nice one. I would have been thrilled with that!

Gotta love those Indians.
