After a horrible weekend of detecting with Park Pirate kicking my butt, and with only one crusty Indian head in my pouch, I was bound and determined to dig something good this morning. Headed to a different park to hit a spot which gave up some good coins earlier this year. First find was a 1943-P war nickel which gave me some hope. I moved down the side of a hill closer to the sidewalk and got a decent hit about 6" deep. Was certainly surprised to recover a super 1829 large cent. This is the area of the park where some great copper coins have surfaced. The soil is very copper friendly here. All this baby needed was a quick soap and water rinse. I headed back up and hill and got a deep iffy hit that peaked my interest. Dug down a good 9" and saw the glint of silver. It was a 1893 Barber dime. Continued detecting and about 20' from the dime, I got another deep hit which seemed to stay mostly upper right on the smart screen. Thinking this might be silver, I dug a slightly larger plug and again about 9" down, I pulled out the 1910 Barber dime. Started to get hot and humid so I called in a day and headed home. I hope to hit that area again tomorrow if the weather cooperates
