your buffalo nickel will make its appearance soon, keep at those nickels, you did great! I am averaging 1 buffalo nickel every 3 boxes searched(1 buffalo nickel every $300) :thumbsup:

nice finds. I like to search nic's too but it's not for everyone. I found another silver one just in the last day or two searching some cwr's I bought.

keep on searchin'

Thanks guys :icon_thumleft:

Is this really lucky? I fear next time it will be a skunk :laughing9:

Any advice for dimes? I have yet to try them.

I do nickels quite often, I am averaging 1 silver war nickel every 1 box searched and on top of that, 1 buffalo nickel every 3 boxes, though the skunk box of nickels can happen and happened to me a few times.

As to dimes, I gave those up after averaging 1 silver every 2 boxes, not worth my time and troubles. Unless you can get N.F.String and son wrapped dimes, I wouldn't consider dimes, especially clear-wrapped brinks dimes. Even though clear wrapped brinks dimes are good to edge check, I think someone is culling them along the lines of the coin processing facility to me. (not starting a debate). just personal opinion.

the fun thing about nickels is there is more of a variety of keepers you can find in addition to the silver. Just recently I found a 1942 Canadian. It's only worth about twice face but it's the oldest Canadian I've found so far. Plus there's the buffaloes (I scored a nice batch of those about a month ago from just 20 or so cwr's) and pre-60's Jefferson's and even '09's which I keep.

I just started searching dime boxes myself and scored 2 silver in my first box and I'm just starting my second box. I'll have to see how it goes with dimes to know if I want to keep searchin' 'em. If I could average about 2 finds per box I'd probably be happy. But that may be too optimistic. Then again if (when) dimes are worth $5 each then I'd probably settle for just 1 silver a box.

Good luck and keep on searchin'

@ BuffaloBoy
Ok thanks for the heads up. Still I have an anxiety to try :laughing7:

@SilverFace
Yeah I thinks it's the variety, meaning more keepers that makes nickels funner. The oldest Canadian nickel I found was a 1976 but considering its worth (like you said) 2x face I'm keeping it. With the current price of the nickel (some $.06x to make) it makes me wonder if someday people will be hunting for them. Imagine year 2111 and posts like "scored 2 copper-nickels out of $500".

Crazy :o

Did you date search all of them or can you edge search nickels?
