First of my 2010 season hunts with Lowbatts & D Dub
I wonder if the medicinal lubricant Lowbatts found was used or dispensed with one of my finds?
Not pictured is the 1925 wheatie that I found about 10 inches down, near a stream.
I tossed it in my wheatie bag before grabbing the camera.
When composing the pictures, I thought I should put a coin in there for scale.
So I reach into my pocket and pull out a 1943 S Nickel!
Must have got it in change at the gas station when I got coffee and a donut.
The tube shaped thing is about 9 3/8 inches long.
The small end is wrapped with what looks like thin leather strapping.
The large end has what might be solder or brazing residue on it.
Any ideas what it might be?
Some initial thoughts were knife sheath, tent stake, black powder horn, oil can spout, procto - never mind that one.
Too bad there were no jars full of coins under the mason jar lids.
Even though I didn't get any silver it was great to get out and dig again.
Unfortunately it also became obvious to me how out of shape I am - after just 4 hours my shoulders and elbows were in a lot of pain and the hike got me out of breath. Time to start workin out I guess!
