Hello everyone,
I apologize for being MIA for so long; it’s been a hot minute since my last post and it is burning up here in Alabama. I started this year taking on new duties as a chief surgical resident at my program and it has left little time for metal detecting. I did go down to Jamaica back in May and took my Excal II but didn’t find much besides a handful of coins. Today, it rained a little bit and we had cloud coverage which put us in the 80s and very few surgeries so I spent 2 hrs on the curb strips near a golf course on my normal route home.
Fifteen minutes in I got an 11-44 on the Etrac and I was surprised to pop out a worn 192x Merc at 1” in the concrete like ground. Some clad later and I get a good sounding tight 11-45 that has a crisp chirp to it and out popped the 1942-D merc with full bands at 1” as well. Next I got a 1935-D wheatie and finally I had a good 11-42 signal and looked down and found the sterling silver ring as a surface find amongst the rocks. Marked 925 on the inside, size 5 but has a cool red stone, possibly some tiny gold balls either side of the main stone and it opens up and has a clasp, very cool! I called a buddy up and were hoping to get out soon if it ever cools down.
Oh yeah, these are my first silvers of the 2019 season! Good luck to you all and happy hunting!
