I came across this site, as I was researching a little more. Yesterday while out in my garden watering my plants I looked down and noticed that the water had uncovered something under the dirt. I washed it away and was stunned to find my first point! I had heard about others finding them, but this was my first. Now after seeing so many different kinds, I am going to go out to my garden and look a little more. We had removed about 12 inches of topsoil in order to plant our garden and since then, I've regularly found things that seemed odd, from rusty metals, to old clorox bottle tops (from the glass bottles), and a large assortment of what I had thought were just rocks. Now I'm going out for a second look around. But here is my find.

Thats a great point, now you have discoverd another hobby...d2

Very nice find mlouise...Some of the best arrowheads are found by people gardening. My uncle found a beautiful 4 inch spear point in his garden and he has no artifact knowledge and still doesn't..... I would love to dig up his patatoes ... who knows what I could find.

Welcome MLouise!

That's a nice point. I have been hearing about points being found in gardens and in landscape river rock. Maybe I should give up creek hunting and start yard hunting. :-\ ;D

Really nice find! A lot of arrowheads are found when you're not even looking for them. I really like the color and shape of it. If I found that on my property I would be digging up my whole yard, don't think my wife would care for that! Good luck hunting! Jim

That's it, you've done it now! You had to go and find your first arrowhead, now comes the obsession. Yup, you'll be hooked..you're life as you know it is gone. No more free weekends, no more clean boots or walking on rocks without thinking twice about them. You'll be staring at the ground even in gravel driveways, you'll catch yourself looking for notches in aquarium gravel and your windows cursor will now only be "that white Adena looking thing on my computer". *sigh*...yup, it's happened to the best of us.

Oh, and...Nice find! hehe

Ain't that the truth!!!

There's bound to be more in the area...don't give up looking. Make sure you post pics of those finds. Good Luck & Happy Hunting!!

Congrats on the find! Its amazing how the first ones come to you. I found my first point after tripping and rolling down a dirt hill that I was playing on when I was a kid. Thats a great point by the way. It almost looks like a Buck Creek point. Thanks for sharing!

Nice find! When I was 9 years old, I was out in my Grandfather's field looking for pieces of quartz (I thought they were valuable like diamonds). I came across a triangle shaped rock. I thought it was pretty neat so I put it in my pocket. Later on, I showed it to my Grandfather. He explained to me what it was. Well, 32 years later, I can't help but look for those triangle shaped rocks in that same field! You might look back a few years from now and say "And this all started when I found that triangle shaped rock in my garden". ;D

Keep looking for them, where there's one there's bound to be more.
