I got my first regular box for 2008 on Thursday and it was a skunk. So today I had planned a trip to visit my Mom and decided to bank hunt along the way. I stopped at a total of 14 banks and found $1,668.50 in halves. 2 banks had none. 7 banks had Less than $20 worth each. Out of those I got $44.50 and found 1 69-D. It was in a teller tray and she was happy to get rid of her $4 in halves. One of the banks I saw the teller leave a silver in the tray and put a couple dollar bills over it like I couldn't see what she did. I didn't have an account with them so I didn't say anything. Another bank told me that they had just recently sent all their halves off because they were tired of having them around. I was also asked a few times what I did with the halves because they had other people asking for halves recently and they were curious why.

Out of the banks that had more than $20 on hand:

Bank 1 had $70 with no keepers.

Bank 2 had $400 in FED rolls which produced 2 1963-D Franklins and 2 1967s.

Bank 3 had $103.50 in their counting machine. I found 66x1, 67x2, 68-Dx1, and a 1986 200 Peso from Mexico celebrating the World Cup Soccer Games. It is almost twice as thick as a half so I'm surprised it went through the machine.

Bank 4 had $50.50 and had a 1982-P missing FG.

Bank 5 was interesting. One of the smaller banks I stopped at said they didn't have any. The teller got on the phone and it sounded like she was maybe going to try and order me some. I told her I wasn't from the area and was just passing through on the way to my Moms. She asked where I was from and I told her and also told her where I was going. She smiled and asked how many halves I wanted and I told he I could take up to $1,000 worth. The bank she called was in the town my Mom lives in and they would have $1,000 worth waiting for me. I was happy at first and then when I got to my truck I started thinking it was probably someone dumps. Well, I got to the bank and the teller had $1,000 bag waiting for me. I asked if they have someone that brings in a bunch of halves. She said they ordered them for someone and when he came to pick them up he didn't want to pay the fee and left. She wanted them out of the vault so was letting me have them without paying the fee. His loss will hopefully be my gain. I'm going to open them tomorrow and will post what I find along with pictures of all the keepers.

congratulations on the finds you already had, may those $1000.00 you have to look through be filled with silver!

Nice Fropa.......way to go....leaving us hanging on the results of that bag....ha! Yes, that was an interesting story on the bag....I hope it is loaded for ya.

That teller also went out of her way to accommodate you too.....there are some very nice/good tellers out there.

Let us know about that bag......my curiosity is up on that one. I don't get bags in my area so I am always intrigued to how they turn out. Good luck.

Well, the bag didn't produce. It had a whole 1967 and nothing else. Oh well, more than I had before and you never know when a great bag will show up so search 'em all I say.
