been waterhunting 25 years, found many watches, first Rolex. Had it authenticated by an established watch shop, as the genuine article. Thought I was doing great with a small cluster 10kt ring, then 10 ft later I hit this. Probably came off one of the yacht's that anchor off the swim area. It's my 2nd best all time find in value. New to the forum and posting. Are many found ? Is it really an unusual find ? It is for up here.

Welcome to Tnet!

What an absolutly fantastic find! I am in awe, as that is on my wish list. Mucho congrats my friend. Curiousity killed the cat, but I must ask, what was the most valuable item you found?

Wow, that's a dream find of many of us in the hobby. I would recommend to hit that area well. Finding a Rolex and a ring within a few feet of each other means there should be more goodies out there.

Congrats on the nice find.

Welcome to the best metal detecting forum out there.

Sweeeeeeeeeet!
That be pirate treasure fer sure :icon_pirat:

welcome and congrats to you, someone tell me as I am not a hundred percent sure, but doesn't rolex, give a finders fee of 2,500.00 ? heck would be nice to get that kinda moola.. I am sure someone on here knows for sure..

wow and its in such nice shape. Congrats

That is a a awesome find congrats

Great find. Welcome to Tnet.

My understanding is that all Rolex watches sold are registered. If you want to find the owner, it should not be much of a problem. Probably a serial number on it, but since I have never seen a rolex ( other than your picture) I can not say for sure.

Verynice find.

Sweet find.

Pre-owned two-tone Yacht Master in mint condition would go for around $7K to $7500. You should take it to a watchmaker and have it serviced. If I were you I'd take it to an authorized Rolex dealer and have them send it into Rolex Service center for a full service. If the crown was screwed down when you found it, it should be just fine inside and should work great. It needs some cosmetic service work. A full service from Rolex will run you upwards of $400 to $600.

Just an amazing and awesome find!

Congrats on such a sweet find. That one is still on my "to find" list. Got a fake once... Not quite the same. That one is a beauty. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Can't wait to see what you find next. I've always heard that the owner can be traced on those Rolex's too. If you sent it in to that Rolex shop to have it serviced they will notify the owner?????? I don't know but a find like that would be a shame to just let it go and rust or whatever by not having it serviced. Keep us posted on your decision. Again..... WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Sweet, and I thought the self winding timex I found with no band was great.......

Good job.

WOW :o :o :o The only Rolex I ever found was a knock off and wasn't found with a detector. Congrats

Northern Lights,

I wouldn't recommend sending it in to an authorized service shop. Each Rolex has it's own serial number and from what I've heard they could send it back to the actual owner. It may just be a rumor what I have heard because I have never owned one. I was lucky enough to try one on one time, but that's another story....

Any local jeweler should be able to clean it and do what they need to do to keep it ticking.

We all look forward to more pictures of future finds.

What to do? Finding the owner of a class ring is one thing......finding the owner of this Rolex? Seems very easy to do. What would you do? Not sure what I would do.
