We started the morning blind scouting a 200 acre ploughed field. It only produced the odd button & had no signs of Roman occupation. Therefore, after lunch we returned to the nearby grass fields that Cru'Dad lucked a hammered out of!
After nearly 5 hours we had very little & decided to pack it in.
OTWBTTC I decided to climb over a fence & try a field by the river whilst Cru'Dad followed his hunch. He wanted to pass through an area where he had dug a couple of bits of lead. This field has been gridded in some areas & we have only ever had 4 scrappies, it has no occupation but just a few randoms. So, to wander onto a nice Roman silver was furthest from all our minds, at best we thought a hammered. So it's hunt no.6 of 2017 & we have our first Roman Silver from the least promising land.:headbang:
Funny how the gut feelings work, he nearly turned off the route he was taking but decided to carry on. That's often the difference between a slow day & creating a really great one!

That's a beauty Cru. I love that peacock reverse.

Very very nice Cru. You must follow your gut feelings. It paid off for you handsomely, just as it did for me yesterday. Congrats on #1 Roman silver for 2017!

I do very well following my gut feelings as well, but this was Cru'dad's lucky day not mine.

Congrats to Crudad! Faustina is one of my fave coins. Had a good laugh about "OTWBTTC"... In some way were always OTWBTTC. :occasion14:

Crusader great job you are living my dream I love some of the old coins and relics you find I'm very happy for you and always appreciate that you share your finds with us. I live in Michigan U.S the city I live in was founded in 1826 so any finds that old would be almost impossible! Keep up the great finds I know you work hard for them Tommy
