Any and all thoughts in how I could make it better would be appreciated.
Atm it weighs about 3 pounds not heavy at all

Make sure your handle connection is beefy and braced. Lots of stress on that joint when dragging it through the sand, especially wet sand.

Would a weld be better ? I could possible add a brace to the back half also

The pipe is thick conduit. vafter i attached it I had a buddy put his foot on the inside and I pulled on the handle part hard as I could to try to brake it but it didnt.

How about the holes ? should I add more ? to be honest I just bought a AT PRO so ive yet to experience what its gonna be like to try to shovel sand in the water.

Hmm dry sand. Should work out. Take her out for a spin and see how she handles the beach. Some in field use might reveal some areas of improvement.

Just try not to get exhausted in the process.

Nice scoop. Hope it works for you.

Cut the front to a V so you can dig in easier and your going to need a brace from the top of the rear cup to the shaft maybe 5" and I think the handle is leaning forward should be strait up or back a hair just my 2c

Miami thanks for the info . I tryed it on a small beach today and I agree 100% I need to V the front I also need to figure out a better kick plate for it.

Here is my very well used commercailly bought sand scoop.

I bought this in 1993 and it is still going strong, hope the style gives you some ideas.

nice scoop i would make sure you make the handle angle back 20 degrees and put a brace from the handle to back of the scoop so you can use your foot to press it into the sand the holes in the pictures look a little small my scoops are 1/2 dia holes .i hope that helps you a little. good luck and i wish you great hunting.

Cutting it to a semi V shape helped a ton
Also I adjusted the handle so it leans back that was a huge help.

My questions now: I end up having to do 3 or 4 scoops per target while in the water chest deep. And that's after I fan the sand enough with my foot to get the target to the top, would a bigger scoop help that or just better pinpointing. Also I'm hunting on new york beaches there's not really any waves any tips on spots I should hit

Btw I use the AT PRO with stock coil I'm new to the machine so any tips about water hunting with it would be great.

Before I got the AT PRO I had the ace 250 with the 9x12 coincentric coil. The pinpointing seemed a lot easier.

It's getting better. I'd put some holes in the top too.

I'll def be putting some more holes in it.
I pretty much spent a hour on this one and drilling all those hole in that short time my arms were killing me lol.

I got out today for a bit and I pretty much brang some quarters with me and tossed them in front of me were I could see them on top of the sand under the water and I practiced pin pointing and the noises tge machine made depending on where the quarter was.

Oh so just to make fun of myself the spot I was hunting in the water I ended up finding some huge shotgun shells that were ringing in at 53 I found 10-12 of them. With it taken me 15 minutes to get each out the sandy water bed they were in.
When I finally decided to empty my pocket on shore I noticed I only had 2 shells. Turns out my pocket ripped and I kept finding the same two haha
