This is my first post in quite a while! Work has been very busy, so my hunt time is VERY limited now :/ anyways, I was able to hunt both yesterday and today. Yesterday I stayed in town and hunted my usual old park. Today I went up into the Sierra Nevada mountains of California with my father and went hiking. I brought the detector along to scope out for any good looking spots.

My finds:

Saturday park hunt produced a 1929 Buffalo nickel, a 1942-s wheatie, a small silver & turquoise ring and my favorite of the day: an 1898 Indian head penny with a beautiful green patina.

Sunday forest hunt produced a lot less, however it brought me the best find of the weekend and my first seated coin: an 1888 dime (no mint mark). It was my second target up there! Down about 6 inches. I found 2 horseshoes, one possibly having some good age to it...(I'll need some help from you guys on that one). I also found a little modern clad and a ton of shell casings and bullets. Good times with my dad[emoji106]🏻

All in all, it was a good weekend and I'm happy to report my first seated to you all. I was surprised to find that thing out in the middle of nowhere! You just never know ;)

Nice finds sgtled3533. Thanks for sharing...

Congrats on your first Seated coin, and the rest of them also. Yours seems to be in pretty good shape. Put it in a 2x2 cardboard holder, and label it with the date and info where you found it, and the detector you used. I do that with all of my coins, (except Wheats), they just go into a plastic coin tube.

Congratualtions on getting out and finding a few nice keepers! :occasion14:

BIG Congratualtions on the first seated! :icon_thumleft:

Congratulations on the first seated and the IHP!

I'm green with envy!:happysmiley: I'm still looking for my first seated. WTG! :occasion14:

Big congrats! I only got one seated coin and I'm in the East so to me finding this is California is an amazing find!

Nice finds and still lots of detail on the Indian head. The silver is the bonus. Congrats

congrats on the seated dime, seateds can be rather hard to come by. love the ring too

Love that seated. I will get mine some day! Congrats!

Congrats on all of the nice finds. I’ve yet to find a seated coin, so I’m quite envious of that one.

Well done sir.

I like all the 8’s. Good for you, congratulations!

I like all the 8’s. Good for you, congratulations!

Yeah that was the first thing I noticed I liked. It is very worn/circulated. Probably dropped in the 1920/30s. I love it regardless [emoji106]🏻

Such a nice find and in such a beautiful place! There is something special about a well worn coin in that it was handled by many that went before us...It got a lot of use and was exchanged by many hands. Congratulations!

Nice finds , I'm still looking for any Seated Liberty coin , and Indian Head cent .
