Still shaking from this one. A few weeks ago, I dug a beautiful 1877cc seated dime. Unfortunately for me, my pinpointing on this particular target was way off, and I ended up putting a deep scratch into the reverse of what would otherwise have been a stunning coin.

I was nonetheless stoked to have found my first seated coin in 2 years.

Fast forward to today. I'm out digging, about a quarter mile or so from where I found the dime, and this pops up!!

Totally unexpected find!! I'm glad to finally cross another coin off my "to find" list, but still stunned at finding TWO SEATEDS in less than a month, and less than a half mile apart.

Civil war era coinage is getting very scarce in my area, and even more so on public property!!

This one has a few light scratches across the obverse (apparently my lesche is still errant >.< ), and a very small rim ding on the reverse, but it's otherwise in stunning condition.

Pics are below. Enjoy!! Now to find a two center!! :laughing9:

Very nice, congrats

That is a prize to be sure ! I've not yet found a seated coin of any kind in nine years detecting !!!

Awesome coin, can't wait till I find one. Great find.

1 casper2.webp Congrats! Think I got my 1st seatd 25c - in 1978 at age 15 - I was excited too

That's a beautiful coin. Congrats.

Very beautiful coin, I hope to find one like that some day.

Great looking piece of silver for sure, a keeper for sure.

Congratulations! Very nice coin! I like the fact that it's the earlier type without the motto above the eagle on the reverse. I found two seated quarters over the summer (one in the same hole with a seated half) and both date from the 1870's and have the with motto reverse. Your coin seems to be very fine to extremely fine in condition. Way to go!
