After looking at the weather channel while eating lunch, I figured I better get out
for at least an hour or two before the projected snowfall becomes a reality.
I went to the nearest FP and spent about 1-1/2 hours wandering aimlessly through
the woods looking for tell-tail remnants of past camping activity. . . stone campfire
rings, old cans, or any other iron signals that were at least 3" deep.
I was about ready to call it a day until I got a solid nickel signal which materialized
into a crisp, 1926 Buffalo at 5-inches. After rechecking the hole (nothing) and then
spiraling out, I got a solid 83 VDI about 10-feet away which turned out to be my
first silver of 2011. . . a 1911 Barber Quarter (finally).
Hopefully, there'll be more of these this season :P thanks for looking!
