Today was my first day of work where I didn't have to work 10+ hours... I'm flag I knew it would be like this today because I packed my detector!
I decided to take a stroll through a field behind an older school which isn't open anymore. I know it was hit a lot in the past, and from when I tried it there late last year, I know the back field was reconstructed thirty years or so ago. There just isn't anything old in the middle... I was really trying today too because I'm trying to learn this new Storm coil. I went along the edge of the field first thing, and my third plug I saw silver! Mercury dime... This one was a 1943. Then some clad, a couple wheat cents, one was a 1926 and deep... But nothing in the middle. I decide to take another pass along the edge of the field and I got another weak but high hit. It was a deeper signal and out popped a nail! But the pro pointer told me something else is in there too... BOOM, another mercury dime! This was a 1924, and was dropped with very little use... It is in such good condition, there was still that 'mint luster' when I cleaned it up at home, I was really amazed with that one!!
Lastly, I went to the front of the school and didn't get many targets, a couple watch type batteries... And then another deeper signal which was ringing like another dime... It wasn't a dime, but a really neat piece of jewelry. A pin or a brooch, but I didn't want to jinx it being silver so I waited to clean it any until I got home. It was pretty cool washing off the back and seeing STERLING on the back... And then a maker's initials too. "C.T.". I tried looking this up on a few websites but I just couldn't find anything. It is actually marked twice, one under the word Sterling and then on the loop that holds the pin...
Please, if anyone can come up with some information on that I would greatly appreciate it. I'm gonna keep looking and if I find anything, I'll post it up on here. Does my long winded post make it obvious I'm happy that spring is coming and that I've got my first silvers for the year
