First three ringer and 6th silver coin in 3 weeks

[Papa Bear]

Birdman and I met today in Duplin County. The fog was still rising when we hit the first field. The two of us then met up with Gxray and two more of Duplin County's finest MD'ers for a tour of a total of four fields around the county. During the day we had a land owner turn up and give us permission to work his fields next to the one we were on (Can you hear the heavenly orchestral music?). At the end of the day we had a Barber Dime, plenty of buttons, shot gun shell ends, four three ringers, a musket ball, camp lead and a sword hook. And me? I got my first three ringer and I found a 1941 quarter!!! What a great day!!

That picture says it all.

Is this a great hobby or what?

Congrats on the hunt.

The day I found my first three ringer is the day I had my first ah-ha moment regarding target sounds. I used to have my eyes glued to the vdi and would only dig the high numbers....then I swung over the three ringer and heard that solid, well rounded mid-high tone that I'll never forget and when it popped out of the hole....it was no looking back. Congrats

James,it was a fantastic day! Good hunting and talking treasure with fellow hunters is always a blast. It is just a matter of time before a seated silver shows up under the coil. Can't wait till next week.

Nice score!!

Thanks everyone! It still pales in comparison to my Pattern 1853 Enfield bullet but at least I have found one now.

PB you should have a whole shadow box full of CW lead before June. Can't wait to hit that new field. I might start knocking on some doors also on the other side of the road.
