First Time Detecting in 2012: Beautiful 1874 Indian

[Ground Inspector]

Finally got out detecting for half of a day.
Found found four wheat pennies (1911, 1927, 1940 s, 1941)
One mercury dime (1918)
Two Indian head pennies (1874 and 1899)
1944 class ring

If anyone knows anything about the odd-looking instrument, please share.
