I just got it in the mail yesterday and I've only had a short while to play around with the controls to see what they do. I got some help over the phone from one of my hunting buddies to help me get it set up for today's hunt.
I decided to take it to a site that I've hunted to death that has produced silver for me in the past. I was hoping that the CTX would punch down a little deeper and maybe find me some silver coins that my other detectors couldn't reach. Believe me this site which isn't all that large has been carefully grid searched by me at least a half a dozen times or more with at least 5 different detectors.
After getting all geared up, I proceeded on to noise cancel and ground balance. I started my grid search in the corner where the two sidewalks meet and less than a minute later I got a high tone and VDI reading of 12-44 and showing a depth of 5 inches. I couldn't image me missing a copper penny with me going over that area as many times as I have in the past years.
After pinpointing, I dug a nice plug and flipped it over. I used my pin-pointer to check the hole, the target wasn't there. I touched the bottom of the plug with the pin-pointer and discovered the target was in the plug. I removed about an inch of dirt and saw a silver quarter. DAMN!!! That's shocking. I don't know how I missed that coin before.
I went on and found some wheat pennies and clad coins. Most of the wheat pennies were in the 6 and 7 inch range and gave a strong signal. With my back being screwed up and hurting I decided to ride around in the neighbor and do some chit chatting with some of the homeowners in the area.
One old lady that I've detected her yard before told me about a beautiful young lady that lives next door to her that only comes out in her yard in a t-shirt without anything under it. I need to ask her for permission to detect her yard since I found some silver coins in the yard next to hers.
After helping the old lady get a cap off of bottle and looking at some of her bad window trim and telling her what she needs to do I headed to another part of the subdivision where I saw Steve standing out in his front yard.
I've detected his yard before and he has lined me up with several of his neighbors yards to detect as well. While we were talking a man drove up who lives down the street to discuss the latest break-ins and him telling us about a specious car he saw last night. Also they discussed seeing a 'drone' looking into a truck window before it was broken into. It was all caught on a video camera, which a lot of the neighbors have on their houses now.
Steve also informed me about an armed robbery that happened last week while a guy was out walking his dog during the day on a fairly busy street. He said a car drove up and two guys jump out with guns and demanded his wallet and jewelry. Steve has this app that's called Next Door that keeps him informed on what is happening in his neighborhood. As I was leaving to head for home, Steve reminded me to bring him some more of those delicious homegrown tomatoes like I gave him last year. It pays to be nice!
