finally got a chance to hunt and i'm so glad i did.
i broke out my old coinmaster pro. the first time i have used it in a year.
i have been using my at pro.
the first hole i dug was this sweet eagle button. i think it might be civil war era?
then i found this weird pendent. not sure what it is. and ideas?
it was super muddy and only hunted a half hour..
i hope the rest of the year is this good to me..
HH. thanks for looking..

Can't tell you how to use it but it looks like it could be a perpetual calendar... Nice digs!

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

QUI is only word I can read... French for "who", can you make out any of the other 7 words?

the whatzit is evidently a 'Venus Hebrew astrological amulet' meant to be worn or carried as a love talisman

Nice Finds!! Congrats!!!

i've never heard of that..any idea how old it is..

That’s a great find!! Please keep us posted on the item you found. I’m sure I’m not the only one that will be curious. Thanks

honestly don't have a clue, but my opinion based on the pictures/patina/crud/etc. is that it's from the 1970's or 80's

Its what we would call a calendar coin, but in this case its a pendant.

Nice digs for a short hunt! Especially like the cavalry officer’s button. It’s a standard Waterbury back mark and could’ve been from the CW, though the style ran from 1855 until 1902 so it could be from the Indian Wars etc. A little petroleum jelly will give it a nice shine. Congrats!

Sweet finds OWG!! That’s the second button from that site, yours is in much better shape.

Nice finds OhioWhiteGuy. I always think it is neat comparing similar finds on TN - so...

Your button is a US Army Cavalry officer's button. It's not made of gold, but instead is heavily gold-plated ("gilt"). According to the best book on dating buttons by their backmark, your button's manufacturer, D. Evans & Company of Attleboro Massachusetts used the specific version of backmark on your button from 1850 to 1880. Unfortunately there is no way to tell whether or not your button was made before, during, or after the civil war. That is why button collectors do not view "D.Evans & Co. / Attleboro Mass" backmarked buttons as being "reliably" from the civil war period, and therefore their dollar-value is somewhat less than buttons which have a "reliably" civil war era backmark. For example, a backmark showing D. Evans & Co Attleboro written inside a ribbon is reliably civil war era ONLY.

I found this web site the other day, but failed to post it. The seven planets (which your medallion lists 7 of something in some language I don't understand) and the part for Venus has the closest match to your number grid. It's all some kind of occult stuff that I know nothing about. It all looks pretty mystical to me
