First time out with GT today

I went out for a couple hours today with the GT for my first time. I found a 42 dime and several harmonica parts. My first silver dime in I don't know how long. I noticed that the GT does not pic up all of the small signals that my Spectrum did in Relic mode, indicating the disc works pretty darn well even with it turned all the way down the whole time. I am going to try to learn more each time I go out with it, seems like a fine machine like everyone says. Bryan

Congrats on the dime!

If it's worth digging the GT will let you know. Beware of those goofy signals that pop in and out, don't bother digging them unless you like digging. I never yet found a good target with the GT where the signal bounced all over the place. If a target is difficult to pinpoint it's trash.

Just listen to that threshold in the background. If it doesn't null out and there's a solid but weaker sound in 2 directions that fades fast when you raise the coil...dig! This is how deep coins (8-12 inches) sound.

The disc. level won't have much to do with it picking up small bits of iron unless you turn off the Iron Mask. Welcome to finding stuff......
