First Time Out

Today was the first time I ever picked up a metal detector. I found lots of trash (pull tabs, foil, nails, old razor blade, etc.) and a 1979 nickel in terrible shape... but I think I'm hooked. What a way to spend a couple of hours! No wonder you folks seem so happy.

I take rubbish as a good indication of human activity. Without it you would not find the goodies. So keep digging it & don't keep your discrimination too high & before long you be digging the silver.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to saying this, but thanks to everyone for all the encouraging replies.

As to what kind of MD? Well.... it was only a BH VLF that I found at Radio Shack on sale (Less than $50). I bought it on a whim (never really intended to get into MD seriously). Guess what? After a couple of days of md and hours and hours of research, the "toy" had to go. An ACE 250 will arrive here on the 3rd. That brings up another reason to say thank you. I must have sifted through hundreds of posts and your tutorage has been invaluable. Thanks folks!

(Now if I could just find a local club......)
