Figured I would post my first two hunts with the E-Trac. Both were about two hours apiece.

My first hunt I found 3 wheat pennies. 1942, 1955d, and a 1909 in pretty rough condition.
My second hunt I found a Belais Brothers of New York 14k white gold womens wedding band........it is from the 20's or 30's

I am really happy with finding gold as anyone I have talked to buying an E-Trac about knows I was worried about finding gold.
Still no silver..........I hope that changes later in the week.

Here are a few pictures and a picture of some of the junk I dug..........probably like half. I know since I am new to this that I am digging
a lot of signals I shouldn't but I don't know what those signals are that I shouldn't dig are yet.

How do I clean the coins I am finding ? Copper for now but how do I clean silver also ?
James

Congrat's on the first gold, James! Good job on the wheatie's too!

Wheaties I just throw under some water and wash with some soap and a toothbrush. You can do a hot peroxide bath and follow with soap and a toothbrush, but that is too much work. Silver depending on value, either just water and a light dab of the finger or again soap, water, and a toothbrush but I don't brush as hard as I do with the wheaties. Very lightly. Silver is easy to clean, like gold.

congrats!! now go find the silver!!

Super finds! You're kinda proving the notion that the ETrac is just that good!

Congrats on digging a gold ring, thats when they pop up when your digging
those type of targets.

Hey great job with that gold. I do as Dan said with the wheaties, just water and toothbrush just to make out the year then they go into a jar. I haven't cleaned my MD silver yet but with other silvers I find other ways, I use some silver jewelry polish on them to give them a nice shine. Too proud of my dug silvers to clean them up. The dirt and tarnish reminds me of how much work it was to find them :)

Thanks everyone I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the cleaning tips.

Went out again this morning ............trying to figure out what to dig and what not to...........I got skunked. It must of been battery day
because I found all different shapes and sizes.

James

From the looks of the trash you dug, you earned that ring. Congrats on the finds and the patience to stay with it. You'll do just fine . Rick :coffee2:
