Detector(s) used
I had to sideline for awhile, too much quarreling, brand defensiveness, and seeing certain people waging war on others. It got to be too silly for me after awhile..

Well I got a good deal today, I bought a Fisher 1212-x for $20. He said it didn't work but didn't know why. I was 99% sure why it no longer worked from our conversation over the phone, the Fisher rotary switches commonly are very silent, and the old man probably turned it too hard trying to hear the switch shut off. I was right, now all I have to do is to swap the internal rotary pot, the (on/off/volume) switch 1212x.webp and it will be a keeper.. my lucky day, those were nice little 3 lb units, for sure.. 1212.webp

Yes the 1212 is a nice turn on and hunt detector..

Being that old, do you think it's still safe to submerge?

Welll,, I wouldn't submerge its box, but it would work quite well as a dry sand salt beach machine and the cable entry to the coil windings is easy to seal with a special 30 yr metal roof sealant I use called "Flexible Seal" made by EPMAR Corporation. The 1212-x is one of the best dry land detectors Fisher ever made, it and all the 1200 series, and CZ seriesflex seal.webp.
