Just bought a Fisher 1270. Live in a southern CA beach town. Does anybody know what kind of performance can I expect from this machine in wet and dry sand? (Haven't had a chance to play with it yet.)

Your Fisher will do the dry sand very well. Wet might give you trouble till you turn down the sens a lot. Once you are in the wet sand and it is stable, stay in the wet sand. Cross into the dry and the thing will start acting up the same as it does going from dry to wet.

Yeah, jobs are tough on our wanting to go detecting. I would skip work some days just to dig in the dirt for pennies and loved it. You can't live by work alone but I picked up a bad habit of needing to eat once in awhile.
I own 2 fisher 1280,s. In fresh water they are super. I tried them in Coco beach Fla. They sucked,I gave up after 5 minutes. If I ever go back I,ll try my Exca. 1000. Mike.
