Detector(s) used
Garrett Ace 150', Fisher F22, Garrett pro pointer 2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I am wanting to upgrade detectors from my Ace 150. I have it narrowed down to the Ace 250 and the Fisher F2. I don't know which one is best for coin shooting and relic recovery. I am biased toward the Garrett since I already have the entry level one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't upgrade from the 150 to a 250, I think the only thing you are gaining is a pinpoint button and a few more notches... which you shouldn't be using anyway really.

Keep swinging the 150 while you save for a used AT Pro, or Ace 350 at a minimum (then you get a nice DD coil).

A pro can be found for right around $300-$350 used, and an Ace 350 around $150 - $200 used. I highly recommend the Pro over the 350, it's a gigantic leap.

I have both machines (AC150/250) and the ACE250 is perhaps 1" deeper with slightly increased recovery speed, pinpoint and notch. Frankly if you are going to jump to a better machine you are much better off jumping to the AT-Pro if you are a Garrett guy. The iron audio on the AT-Pro is excellent and saves you so much hassle digging bottlecaps that sound great on ACE 350 !

At that price point go with the Eurotek Pro.

Neither one. Keep looking.

I bought the F-2 used on Ebay for the G-son (8) he likes it but I found the VDI numbers are quite different -this is hard for me to deal with/// Perry

Nothing wrong with being bias toward Garrett. The Ace 300 will give you better depth, faster recovery and a numeric ID over the 150 for $254. And the coils interchange with the 150 if you get sniper, etc.

The new Aces outperform the older.
