Fisher F5 or At pro

Hi all, looking to upgrade for a new MD and wondering which one to take.
Have any one out there who tryed both? ( fisher f5 with dd coil and garrett at pro.
Or if you have something similar to suggest me let me know.
My budget is around $700

One is waterproof and submersible, the other is not. Sooner or later you will get the urge to hunt a shoreline or in the water, so why not get the AT Pro.

You can find an F70 or F75 used for cheap. I found my f70 for $340. I own both machines. The almost always take the f70 over the at pro due to its perfect balance and light weight. Not to mention it's super fast response time.

With Fisher's F70, the manufacturer cautions owners not to get the detector housing wet. The coil is waterproof but it is recommended that you not take the unit deeper than 2 feet of water.
The AT PRO is totally submersible to 10 feet. The PRO works well in fresh water. Not so good in salt water.

I have both the F5 and ATP

i have found that they are both about equal - depth, sweep speed etc...
differences - with the F5 you can adjust multiple settings - threshold, gain , gnd balance. this gives the F5 a slight rdge over ATP. Not a huge difference but a difference.
ATP is waterproof where the F5 is not - adv ATP
Quick start- turn on an go - Adv ATP

I have found that the knobs on the F5 are not detent type - when you set the unit down or go thru brush, YOU WILL change your settings, constantly have to check them

All in all I found them even - I usually grab my ATP when i go out because i am more familiar with it at thispoint.

Either way I dont think you will go wrong with either detector

One machine I would suggest if you are not going to be hunting in water is the X Terra 705 which is in your price range I own the 705 and the ATP for me I have never been that impressed with the ATP.

if you are going to be hunting in water then the ATP but if not I would look at a few others

I do want to hunt in water.. but the one that are submersible are too pricey

Not trying to be a smart a** you have answered your own question then in the price range you are looking to spend the ATP is your answer but only if you plan on completely submerging the control box to 10 feet otherwise you can get water proof submersible coils if you are planning only to go in a few inches to a foot or so then your options are wide open, just because the ATP was or is not my cup of tea does not mean it will not be yours, I have found some good things with the ATP but just not that impressive of a machine to me, but you may very well find it to be too your liking
