I understand both modes are there to overcome coil to surface variances due to terrain/foliage. Other than maybe sweep speed, anyone know if PF has any distinct advantages over bP for depth when detecting plowed fields? If so, please explain. Thanks.

PF is mostly design to deal with fresh soil.

It has the slowest processing speed of the two, and is used for a disturbed soil matrix.

BP is for high grass.

It is faster than PF but uses a "boosted" signal which can reek havoc with falsing, especially on surface foil. I would use about half sensitivity with BP.

PF mode is used on rutty sites and plowed fields since the un-leveled ground can cause falsing. The Boost process can gain you some depth in any situation. Most use it when the foliage does not allow them to swing close to the ground. BP will make the detector false more if used incorrectly. I normally use it to get a better target ID on deeper iffy signals.
