Found 5 flat buttons at a site I’ve found 9 other flats and one large cent in the past month. I’m not super familiar with old buttons, but I’ve never seen one like the small one that I think says “orange treble gilt.” Not sure what the ring on the shank would have been for, any ideas? Also, sorry if I didn’t post the pictures right, I’ve never posted any on here before.

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!
Thanks a ton! I never expected this permission would net me any 1800s items. All this has come from the front yard of a farmhouse that was built in the early 1900s. Found some old brick and glass in a few of my holes today, so I guess I can safely say there was an older homesite on the property.

That’s some good finds. Congratulations!

Nice Haul !

Nice job on the Flat buttons.

Nice buttons. These type of buttons date from about 1810-1850. The "colour" and "orange"markings are indicators that they were made in England. Most likely in London. Keep in mind that in the early to late 1800's these buttons were removed from worn out clothing and reused again and again for years. They are a great finds.
