Made in Japan item, silver plated. It's has some writing on inside of the lid, can't make it out even with my headset magnifying lens. It could resemble some old flask lids but I don't think it's that. I checked sent bottles didn't see to much in resemblance. Any other keywords or ideas I can try to search? It was found at turn of century site if that matters. I've found items from 1880s to 1960s here

The first edition “silver version” Nintendo control knob. Wildly popular among youth in the early/mid 80s……kidding. Nice find, but I have no idea.

Without threads, it would be a very light-duty item. It might be a push-on end cap for a curtain rod or something of that nature.

I don’t know what that is, but the origin declaration “Made in Japan” has specific dating possibilities, in relation to the requirements of the McKinley Tarfff Act.

The words “Made in…” (or an equivalent term) in addition to the country of origin in English were required from 1914 (although not rigorously enforced until about 1921) until exports to the US stopped with the declaration of War in 1941. When exports resumed in the late summer of 1947, the required wording was “Occupied Japan” with or without the words “Made in…” until 1952 when the word “Occupied” was dropped.

Needle case cap...?
I'm curious to know what the words are inside.

I have had good luck reading tiny print by taking a picture with my phone and enlarging it. That has worked on several items that had defied my magnifying glasses. Good luck with it!
