I found a nice flat button. The front has no markings but the back has Treble Gilt Orange Col EA & S. It seems to be very old. I believe it is pre 1860 but i am not sure. If you know anything about it please post information. I also want to thank Longcut for taking me to one of his hunting spots. If it weren't for him i would have never found it.

There is no doubt it is pre-1860 & it is nearer 1830 but a better photo or a more precise backmark will nail it?

PS. Lemon Juice for 2 minutes will clean it.

An enlightened source just taught me about the lemon juice method. Seems a bit friendlier to my buttons than the naval jelly I've been using. Nice find and good advice from Cru.
You're in a good spot, grid it out nice, there's more to be found.

Cool find on the button, The only referance I could find in my book(Alberts 1976 edition ) Is a listing forE.Armfield & son 1790-1855, But there was Col. in front of that so It may be totally off. Cool find for sure, Congrats on the find............................................HH

I think Col. means colour. I can't get a better picture until tomorrow morning.
