I’ve seen and know of a good deal of “things” but this is new to me. I’ve also seen a lot of strange things identified here. My coin dealer buddy thinks it might be flat money with a loop attached. He says flat money is Asian, most likely Japanese or Thai. Any info is helpful, is it real? Age? It has piqued my curiosity.

The only "flat money" I have heard of are Chinese old currency. Little copper/bronze swords and other items.

Sometimes called knife money or spade money depending on the shape.

Nothing about the posted relic says 'money' or 'Asian' to me. My first thought was "part of a cross pendant". It's obviously broken. Certainly looks old...

Is that a wedding band attached? Maybe it is a one of a kind piece(necklace) to honor a spouses death?

Not a wedding band. It's a gold herringbone necklace.

Thanks for the input. I think it’s gonna take a lot of digging to maybe never find the real answer.
