I know, I know, most likely not. But I keep wondering about this one. worked on both sides, edges pretty much have a clean breaks all the way around, except for a few small places that look like it was shaped this way intentionally. Just a neat nature-broken piece of scraper? The thickness if fairly uniform also, except for tapering in one spot.
I've got a couple pieces similar to that one, naturegirl.
Here's what Neaderthal said about mine: "Both of the others are artifacts. The red piece is from a mid-section of a large bi-face, and they gray one from a ventral waste flake. Someone recently showed me a few tools from the Ark. that were fashioned in the same way - intentionally burined / cleaved edges forming a circular tool. I've seen others pop up, all from this area. "And here's a link to the post---See what you think : http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,276258.0.html
Cool little artifact, NG!
Well jeez, sancreek I forgot about that post of yours! Honest, too many fumes at work Yep, I'd say it's like yours, they look so much alike it's uncanny, huh? Not sure what they'd use it for, but i'm sure it was a handy little thing. Thank you for the reply
