Got out to a couple sites I've pounded to death....I didn't expect much...I just wanted to show my Mom what Cellar Holes were all about. Anywho...here's some buttons I found. I think the holed "whatsit" is a cufflink of some sort. The nice gilted two piece button is an "extra rich superfine" I believe it to be 1820's-1830's....Funny thing is, a circular piece of leather was on the back, and the thread is still intact in the shank. I love buttons and I'm very pleased with this one.

Thats what I thought at first, B&B buttons are very strong and hold their gilt, but this one is just marked "extra rich superfine"

Yeah they do, however.....this very same site, not but 10 ft away I found the exact same button that was just rotten. It's funny how certain little nooks and cranny's preserve alot of the stuff we dig.
