Here are some of the blooms from our yard this year. More will open in the next few days if the predicted bad weather Sunday doesn't take them out.

It's a rose but the name escapes me. I'll ask my wife if she remembers.

Beautiful! All the wild irises are blooming now. The last one reminds me of a camellia but I think I see thorns on the stem.

We had heavy rain Sunday and it beats the blooms down on most of our plants. These just opened up today. The last pic was edited as if you couldn't tell.

Are you using the cameras built in flash, or a flash unit mounted
in the shoe (slot on top for flash unit)?

For a different look, try bouncing the flash off the ceiling, or an
adjacent wall. Gives the pic a whole new look.

These pictures were taken outside using a piece of black poster board for a background. No flash used. The shadows were from the sunlight.

Makes sense..odd though that the image data shows the
flash did fire...

If it did I wasn't aware of it. All I have is the pop up flash on the camera. And, I was looking through the view finder when I took the picture. I'll pay more attention next time. How did you pull up the information?

I use Firefox, and one of the available add-ons is an EXIF/FXIF viewer.
Just open the image to full size, right click on it and it displays the data.
