Here are some photos and a story about Folsom Lake being at it's lowest level in years.
One town, Mormon Island, was flooded when the dam was built, and the water got so low that you could see the town again - viewable for the first time in many years.

Meanwhile, we've had over 10 days of constant rain, so it's under water again.

Check out the story: http://www.myfolsom.com/photos-mormonisland.shtml

You can see the dark brown areas where the water level used to be.

Used to get lot of gold when the water was low until they started to write tickets...Art

What did they write tickets for???Unless it was posted for some reason!

Legal? Gee, I never thought about it. I assumed it WAS legal, as
I've run across two other detectorists while there.
I will have to look it up, and get back to you.
In California you cannot hunt in historic sites.

It was against the law to even have a detector in your car. I have not checked in a couple of years but I don't think they would have changed it..Art

Neat pics, and link thanks for sharing that! ;D

I think it's a historic area, within a state park. That might be a problem. I'm not sure.

Yes, that's it.
Since the Mormon site is a historic location, we are not allowed to remove any artifacts.
It even says so in the story referred to in the first post.
