Foo Dog Question

Anyone know anything about foo dogs? I picked one up at an Estate sale a few weeks ago - but, I can't seem to find any information on it. It weighs about 10 pounds - it's pretty big and is definatley some kind of green stone - not sure if it's jade or not. I will post pics as soon as I can. Thanks for your help. I wasn't sure where to post this request...

Fu Dogs, as the Chinese believed are the civilian door gods. They are placed in a pair to provide ultimate protection, guard against evil spirits and harmful people, nourishes chi that enters homes, and bring in happy blessings.

All Foo Dogs that I have seen in the past have been jade...now there are ceramic copies

Other than that, I wouldn't foo with them
