For the price of a scratch off I took a chance. But who is he?

I found this framed picture with a signature at the bottom at our local thrift store. Any ideas on who it might be? It looks like the first name is James but i can't make out the last name. Not sure why their are two signatures. Can't make out any of the bottom signature. I paid 3 bucks so no big deal if it turns out to be a nobody.

top could say "Yours Truly"

James or Jarvis Son** or SOM***

Gen. Longstreet

It says "yours truly, James Longstreet" I cannot speak to authenticity, but I found that picture and very similar looking signatures on the google. Congrats on potentially the best $3 you've ever spent

Wilsondog nailed it

Wow! Thank you so much for the quick ID. I figured it was some banker or local guy here in Greensboro. To be honest, i never even heard of James Longstreet until now. Looks like he was a key player in the Civil war. Anyhow, looks like we have lots of fake signatures floating around making my find even less likely to be authentic. Still...a great history lesson for me making it worth the 3 bucks.

I would have bought it ! Hope the signature is authentic for you ! Congrats on a nice pick !

I found this on the web...looks pretty close. Not sure if i want to send the signature in for authentication. 150 bucks for authentication of his signature is a bit more than i want to spend.

The bottom of the "L" looks highly suspect to me. Why the extra fine line?

Not sure, maybe a loose fiber caught at the tip of the pen. They didn't have ball point back then.
