I bought a 1974 World Coin Book last week at a yard sale ,(864 pages)
and I was IDing some coins I have . I'm curious about this 1942 Neatherland penny . The book indicates that they were made from 1913 - 1941 . Then in 1941 under Nazi rule they switched the coin style until 1944 . Yet this coin is 1942 with the old design . Maybe my old book has a typo error . Does anyone have a more recent book ? Thanks !

It should be in your coin book under "Netherlands Antilles - Curacao." When Germany gained control of the Netherlands during WWII, the Netherlands Antilles, a group of islands in the Caribbean, remained under protection of the Allies. These 1942 coins, which circulated in Curacao, largest of the islands, were actually struck at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia.
