Hey all, how would I find the value of foreign silver coins? I have two coins from a relative that he wants to know the value. Then I'll buy them :laughing7:.
The first is an 1850 5 Francs, Republique Francaise (obverse), Liberte Egalite Fraternite (reverse). Silver dollar size.

The second is an 1873, L 5, Vittorio Emanuele II (obverse), Regno D'Italia (reverse). Also silver dollar in size.

I know both are silver, but everything I found is either in French or Italian. I'll try to get some decent pics. Very nice looking coins. I suspect he picked them up during WWII and has kept them all these years. He also has a '45 Walking Liberty (that was an easy one).

Thanks, TMH

Hello,
French coin....$15@F $35@VF $100@XF
Italian coin should have a mint mark.
M $10@F $17.50@VF $40@XF
R $400@F $800@VF $2000@XF

Hope you got the good one!
Dave.
P.S. My price guide is 8 years old and values should be a little higher based on silver prices and/or collector interest.

Thanks Dave. I don't see a mint mark, do you know where it's located? There is an M, left of the L5, and a B(?) to the right of the L5. But, they don't look like typical mintmarks.

Looking at the picture, it looks like the mark is to the left and it is a large letter not small like a U.S. mint mark. Someone else might want to chime in and confirm.
Dave.

Thanks again.
