Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Well I went back to my forgotten bank that I mentioned yesterday and picked up 90 rolls (still 30 rolls in there). I didn't have time to run to my main bank to get more cash and get there and back to work on my lunch break. I pulled 38 silver coins and again today a Walker (bad shape) and a Franklin. I also kept one that is damaged but I don't know if it is from the mint or just damaged in circulation. I'll get those last 30 rolls tomorrow.
Lunch Total:
2-90% (1-1940 Walker & 1-1962-D Franklin)
3-65's
4-66's
15-76's
8-68's
6-69's
38 Total Keepers

I also picked up two boxes that came in and just finished checking the first one. It was a real good box. It yielded a total of 52 keepers including a Franklin, a proof and my first commemorative (George Washington). I'll check the 2nd one later this evening.
Box Totals:
3-90% (2-64, 1-1957-D Franklin)
2-65's
9-66's
16-67's
13-68's
7-69's
1-Washington Commemorative
1-1980-S Proof
52 Total Keepers

90 Keepers Grand Total (Lunch & Box)

Here are the pictures....

You are just too good at this :) Your one day totals look like one month totals for me. Are you adding on to the house to store your coins? :) :) :) Congrats, your posts always give me hope :)

Hi Lejeuene,
Congrats on all that silver.
Are the bicentenials worth money?

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

That messed up Kennedy looks like a drop of acid was put on the back and ate its way through to the front.

I have one of those Washington silvers as well. Still in the case. I got it for christmas as a kid and remember thinking it would be worth SO much money when I grew up. Alas, it is actually worth less now than what my parents paid for it. Oh well, at least it is a very nice looking coin.

Congrats on all that silver!

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Good lord that Walker has seen a lot of "activity". LOL Love the Washington commemorative halve! Congratulations on another AWSOME silver day! ;D

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Nice finds, as usual for you! ;D I like the George, and poor Kennedy looks like he was shot in the head!

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

As usual, awesome totals!! That 71 is definitely post mint damage. Someone holed it then hammered the hole shut. I am still waiting to find my first GW commem. Congrats!

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Great finds LJ; especially on that GW commemorative ! They were issued in 1982 (as you know) for the 250th anniversary of Washington's birth. Should be 40% as well. It was the 1986 Statue of Liberty commemorative half (that I found in a roll in January) that was the first cupro-nickel commemorative half.

Early kudos on reaching 2K silver. (would've had it sooner had not TxTim raided some of your banks :D )

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

The 2nd box produced 1-90 Kennedy and 3-40%...another box with no date on it or any kind of stamping.

Thanks Thurm - According to the Red Book this commemorative is 90%, but I have also heard the Red Book has many errors too.

The clad (11.34 grams) bicentennials aren't worth keeping. They do have some silver clad (11.50 grams) that weighs a tad more than the clad....I personally don't give them a 2nd look. I guess you would have to weigh them to distinguish the two. Obviously the proofs ("S" mintmarks) are definitely worth keeping. Good luck.

I don't have my Red Book with me, and you may be right about the silver content.

Regardless, all commemorative halves (IMHO) are keepers; as they were minted in such low numbers; relative to their general circulation counterparts.

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

If you get a chance, could you show the reverse of the washington comm.? Nice haul also. Bongo

Re: Forgotten Bank (Part II) & A Box......

Thanks for the reply Lejeuene, may all that good karma you spreading keep coming back to you.
