Fought the gnats for a few more bulldozed artifacts.

Beautiful day today, except for the little swarming gnats. The Bug Soother helped a lot though. I found another old Iowa license plate. About 15” long. Fairly complete sans the paint job. Appears to be 283766. IA 19
I’m going to see if the courthouse has any such records. This is my first one that only shows the last 2 digits of the year (If I remember correctly). I also found a decent-size square nail and a cultivator point, chisel plow point, etc. I’m no grain farmer. Not sure it’s real name.

1919 Iowa license plate. That's really cool. I'd get all the rust off and repaint it.
That’s an idea. It’s still pretty solid for being 10-12 inches underground for decades. I’ll have to check and see what color it was. I’m guessing Hawkeye gold (yellow) with black characters

I see they were dark brown with a lighter brown for the characters

Same here in NJ. Actually found my oldest federal coin ever Saturday evening 1793. But in the end the gnats won. Had to leave. Went back today no gnats and 1 darn IHP.
