Found a Bird Point!

This is by far the smallest point I have found to date. I would assume everyone would call it a bird point of sorts. It is about the size of my thumbnail and in perfect condition. Any idea on era? Found in North Central Indiana

That is a nice little point. Bird point is kind of a misnomer, it is an arrowpoint or arrowhead. It was used with bow and arrow and could be used on birds, rabbits to deer and bison.Seems like the "bird point" name is used by a lot of folks though.

Generally speaking, when it comes to stone projectile points, especially points from back east, they date to prehistoric times, which can depend on the area, but is about 500 years ago in most cases. Its probably at least 500 years old.

It's hard to tell whether the point you found is an arrow dart or an Atlatl dart because there's nothing in your pictures to show size.

Very nice Bird point, they are Always my favorite find around here, most are quartz or Obsidian and some with Fantastic craftmanship or craft ladyship as I am told the females made most of the arrowheads traditionally in the PNW.

What can I say, to be honest I didnt know that that was a finger in a glove, I wasn't sure what the piece was laying on. Only that it was laying on something with a strang surface. Your welcome to have a laugh on me!
