Took a break from civil war hunting to check some old homesites over spring break. Unfortunately after a 45 minute drive to the site my only shovel broke so it got cut a little short. Found the buckle inside what would have been the house which is no longer standing. and the other item was found near a spring that was likely its source of water. Any id help on the buckle or the mystery item would be appreciated. I tossed in a buffalo nickel for scale. Thanks in advance! IMG_4299.webpIMG_4297.JPG.webpIMG_4296.JPG.webp

suspender buckle?

Looks like it!! You are definatley in an old area keep looking!!!! Ive broke my shovel a few times that really is crappy especially if you hiked a ways!!!!Thanks for sharing

The one item looks like part of a lock of some sort as you can see the keyhole in the brass. The round part broken off (above the keyhole) on it would have been a pendulum like piece that went over the keyhole.

Thanks for the info everybody, girlfriend actually suggested that it might have been a suspender buckle. Any rough guesses on age?

I'm sure there are other goodies to be found nearby.
Keep em coming
