found a garret pinpointer

I'd say BANNER FIND ! :laughing7:

OK, I'll play "devils advocate"

Curious as to how many posting "keep it" are members of Lost My Stuff (I am). I wonder how many have posted here about the rings they've returned for the pats on the back, and all those warm fuzzy feelings?

Maybe the owner is a ethical MD'er, and his 10 year old boy saw all dads finds and how excited he was about them, and Jr just wanted to be like his idol, dad. So, without asking permission (since dad was at work) Jr takes dads pinpointer out, but never was taught the proper way to recover, and left all the open holes, as well as dads pinpointer.

Poor dad fixes to go MD'ing on the only day he's had off in a month, not to mention all the time he volunteers at the homeless shelter....but no pinpointer to be found. Jr claims he didn't do anything with it, because he knows he lost it and doesn't want Santa to leave him a chunk of coal for Christmas. Maybe if he got it back, dad could have the chance to teach Jr how to locate and recover items without leaving a trace...but may never get the chance since he can't afford to replace it, having saved 6 months for it, what with Jr needing braces, and the wife being pregnant again.

If you want to keep it, keep it. I wouldn't come to a public forum asking for "votes" to justify your keeping it. People always claim they want to do something to "promote" the hobby, here's your chance, a fellow MD'er is just as equal as a 70 year old widow who lost her wedding band her late husband had placed on her finger .

Oh, hope you all who are saying "keep it" have a Merry Christmas!

Edited to ad:

Because Jr's dad never got his pinpointer back, he was unable to take Jr detecting, and form that father/son bond. So, Jr will likely turn to a life of crime, and spend most of his adolescent years in and out of "Juvi". Because of the heartache, Jr's mom left his dad, who went on to become an alcoholic living on the streets (refrigerator box) after losing the family home.

Since that's the only life Jr now knows, it will continue into adulthood, where he will become another tax debt on all of us to pay to keep him in prison. All this because dad never got back the pinpointer that little Jr left at the park on that day all he wanted to do was to be .....just like dad.

You forgot about the part where the Park Manager told him that the guy never fills in his holes after constant warnings. Jr would be better off teaching himself or finding a better role model to follow if that is the case. I say donate it to a club or school that has a better understanding of the hobby than this dirt dweller

If you are really conflicted about it, send it to me.

I'll deal with it for you. I won't rest until I can find some underprivileged poor legless orphaned child of a broken home to give it to.

Until then, I'll make sure to keep a fresh battery in it.
