I melt down all the lead bullets I find and make new ones for my cowboy action guns... Today I found three .65 cal lead balls today at a schools ball field and one .38 cal lead bullet... The best thing about finding small lead for me is I know my detector will find small gold!

You really need to measure the diameter accurately ... .22 or .25 or .32 ...

I measured it. Its a .31 caliber lead bullet

I think it might be an Enfield bullet any input?

Because it is rather short I suspect it may be a .308 used in a m1 carbine or more than likely a .315 used in .32 cal revolvers or auto... The wt of the bullet may give some insight! If a bullet has been fired the lands and groove diameters can be measured to determine the bore size, rather tricky to measure if it has an odd number of lands as do most Enfields...

I save all the lead bullets I find Even The Jacketed Ones, (In case I ever want to cast my own or for someone to melt down or to recycle at the scrap yard as a last resort.

I'm no bullet Expert..
But IMO It's likely not a CW era Enfield Bullet , as I think the smallest cal, was a 54 cal, slug ,& Maybe a 50 cal ? Was made:
I'm now thinking it's a 32 cal Cast Lead Pistol Bullet .
Still could be something else.

I hate finding bullets that are NOT lead. Really confuses me.
Barnes makes all copper bullets... Some states require u to use no lead bullets to hunt...ducks require steel shot.. I had a crazy uncle who made a gun out of a pipe that he inserted a fire cracker in hole that it just would fit in and drop a marble down the barrel, light it and hold it over his head away from his face and fire it down range... Don't try this at home, he is what you would call an idiot!
