This is an open field that I've wanted to detect for a few years now. It's situated between two old limestone buildings, one is a water tower, the other is a farmhouse.
I was able to detect this site for 2hrs today before the rains came. There's been a lot of soil disturbance in the field in between the two structures and the majority of the finds came from near the farmhouse. :icon_scratch:

The pocket watch is nickel-plated on brass and has a locomotive engraved on the back cover. My last 'keeper' of the day was a 1910 'King Edward VII' Penny!
I also found part of a skeleton key, a squished bullet and a rose head nail. I'll tumble the remains of the pocket watch to try and get more detail.

Thanks very much for looking and Happy Halloween! :blob8:

This is only my second complete watch find in two years, my other one was a ladies silver pocket watch!

Yikes! I did something like that once, I was moving a very large/heavy spindle that was on a roll cart and didn't realize my middle finger was on the end of the spindle and well lets just say my finger was a nice cushion between the spindle and the concrete wall!, lost that fingernail real quick lol!!!

Congrats on a good hunt in a great looking place,I'd go back till you clean it out. The folks who built the stone place had some serious sheckels back inna day and maybe they left some for you in the yard! We want to see you smiling and holding up a nice yeller one or two. HH.....

All around great finds, and that large cent is exceptional!

Awesome watch! That LC looks good too!

Working in construction can be a dangerous way to make a living! :tongue3:
I've seen some really stupid things done on job sites and it often ends up with someone getting injured!

Thanks for your post swamp yankee!
This limestone farmhouse dates to 1850, it was built on a hill, but a lot of the ground surrounding it has been changed due to recent construction.
There are only a few spot that have been left 'untouched' as far as I can see, I think the site deserves at least one more visit though!

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Thanks J! :occasion14:
It still amazes me how some soils give you coins that look like this and some totally ruin them.

tell me about it, I broke my finger via mini excavator, shot with nail gun in the wrist, knee, and toe on 3 separate occasions, lost 3 or 4 fingernails due to smashing fingers etc etc, the list goes on and on lol!!!

You're not a man if you don't have at least one black fingernail bud lol. Or a split forehead with some hammer claws ha ha

That's a great looking NS cent you found bud. Funny that the only holed coin I've found is the same as yours....and we both drink beer at the Sea Dog lol

Holy :censored: man!
Hopefully you got into another line of work before you got killed! :laughing7:
Just a broken big toe for me while on a job-site, but lots of other broken bones due to hockey related injuries.
