Went to my old hunting spot again yesterday evening.did a little better this time around.found five flat buttons, few shot bullets and a old wrench.Last night when I was cleaning the buttons a got a little surprise when i saw a eagle over a anchor. As you can see the fertilizer did quite a number on it.It was all I could do to bring out the basic detail. 004.webp015.webp032.webp008.webp005.webpI almost forgot about the wrench.does anyone know how old it might be,or is it even possible to determine age?009.webp

Glad you got out DI2...I like finding lead and old buttons! No idea about the wrench, sorry.

Id take that button any day:)nice find

Awesome hunt and button. Try looking up Ford tractor wrenches to see if you have a match. Sub 8-)

Nice digs DI2. I'd guess the wrench to be 1920-40 but that's based on some I dug and thew area relics. Not a tool expert. HH, Q.

Thanks Sub.I looked into it,I saw a couple that where similar.I was wondering because sometimes on some early sites I find them big old square nuts sometimes.I am pretty sure you are right because of its shape, would have been made for working on heavy equipment 'tractors'.

Thanks Q.Thats what I am thinking now.20's or 30s.I was hoping it might be really old

Nice digs...Feels good just to get out huh??
Love them flat buttons..

i found the same wrench last year lol

Nice button! I'd be happy with it in any condition. I found a wrench a lot like it at a civil war camp with a bunch square nuts and cw bullets. I was told it was for wagons, not sure. HH!

Cool button bud. Can't control the condition

War of 1812 perhaps?? Anyways, Awesome button. I would love to find a button like that regardless of condition

Thanks, I was happy to find it.But that fertilizer is a killer, not the first time it has got me.Probably a good thing i found it when I did.The way they fertilize that field,it probably wouldn't even have been identifiable if it sat in the ground for a couple more years or so

yeah,it is the downfall of hunting crop fields.doesn't seem to bother silver a whole lot.If I could just start getting into some:)

thanks coinman.I don't think it is that early, but not positive.I am thinking it is probably 1830's-50's.

thanks for the comments everyone-HH-Gl
