What's new

Found a shamrock today .. Thought it was a Civil War Corps Badge before I cleaned it.

.. but now, I am not sure what it is. Here are the pics of the front and back. It measures 1.5" by 1.25" by .18 inches thick, and the stem appears to be broken off. Kind of a neat piece, but have no idea what it is.

Man, I would have thought it was a corp badge too.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Brass or copper?

3 leaf clovers were worn as pendants I'm sure for luck a lot over the centuries. Look for jewlery manufacturers, and check the back for a makers mark.

Nice find! Congrats!

Cool, whatever it is-congrats!

End of s clock winder? Or key?

Had this tested today and it came back as a low grade gold <10kt

Still don't know what it is, but they thought it might be Celtic in origin.

Ohhh. It keeps getting better!
Congratulations.

9 dots on each side got me to wonder.
I did a search for the importance of nine in the Celtic realm. Here's the LINK to one site.

And another LINK .

Thanks very much.. Your post has lead me to all sorts of fascinating reading. I never knew the importance of 9! That's awesome!

Brass or copper?

I had it cleaned tested at a well respected jewelry store, and they said it was <10kt. gold. I am not real sure what exactly the other metals might be, but gold is gold I guess.

You're welcome.

I'm not familiar at all with Celtic culture but it seems every symbol means something. Might even be some Nordic influence as well?

Awesome, congrats
