Its plated 18K and is a tie clasp... not a money clip... nice find though...

That's a different piece of gold.
I always like getting a 5 cent silver (or half dime which I got a capped bust up here)

the tie clasp makes more sense, awesome find, congrats

yep, tie clasp like masterjedi sez, however I believe the dupont emblem is gold and not just plated. It also appears to have 4 small stones. I do think the clip and chain and plated though. My guess is that it dates to the 60's and was probably a service award for a dupont employee

The reason I was asking was because I found a lot of old coins in this area. I definitely believe its 18K and the stones are diamonds. I just wasn't sure what the rest of it was made out of..whether its silver or what else would it be on such a nice emblem. Thank you tie clip makes much more sense.

Nice digs and thanks for those pictures

I think jewelerguy is right on - I was gonna guess 1950's, but hey what's ten years among friends ?

(I really love the Vicky Fishy too !)

Very nice finds. Congratulations.

eBay has some similar service awards. Seems the device is real gold (not plated) with real stones. Probably worth having a jeweler look at it. Nice find!

Cool items there, keep hoping that some old items will turn up here lol, hard to wait for the fields to get cleared out arrrrgh !!

I bought and sold jewelry for 20 years.... i wish it was gold too... but sorry... great find though...

Thanks for everyone's reply , it s been in the ground for a long time and came out shiny. it was in a river bank so faced a lot of elements plus I got a silver dime and a large scent that I can't see the date.I wasn't expecting much and today turned outgreat. Well thanks again and Keep plugging

It's certainly a tie clasp, but it appears that it's gold plated with the possible exception of the name plate Dupont. Take a look. Everything else has corroded, but the nameplate has not. It is also the piece that is stamped 18K. Test the nameplate to know for sure one way or another.

that's a cool piece of gold right there!

It's a nice piece. Congrats!
